Neverwinter Nights 2 Hints
Khelgar Vision Quest
of 9: You probably finished the Trial of the Maimed and the Trial of the Even-Handed parts of this quest in the previous act. If not, you can do so now. (See Act I's "Khelgar Vision Quest" hints.)
of 9: That just leaves the Trial of Justice to be finished.
of 9: This can only happen during the quest "The Trial."
of 9: While you're doing the Rite of Tyr thing prior to the trial by combat with Lorne, Khelgar will burst in and start raving about the injustice of it all.
of 9: That'll count as fulfilling the Trial of Justice, so return to the Chapel of Tyr and talk to Hlam about it after the trial by combat is over.
of 9: If you've finished all three of the trials, you'll then have the choice of getting Khelgar started on the path of the monk.
of 9: If he converts, he'll be a level 1 monk, but will retain his XP, letting you level him to his former level, but as a monk instead of a fighter. That means you'll be getting a monk companion who's as powerful as if he'd started out as a monk (which no companion ever does). Also, he'll get ability score points on certain level-ups again, which can be an advantage.
of 9: However, many players have found that making him a monk really isn't worth it, since he's a bit more powerful as a fighter. I tend to agree.
of 9: NOTE: If you don't make him a monk, the quest will remain unfinished. (There is a conversation option you can use when talking to Hlam to try to persuade Khelgar to give up the idea of becoming a monk, but it has an impossibly high influence requirement.)
