The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
Misc. Notes
1 of 4: If the guards are overwhelming you and you can't get away, yield to one of them (see the "Arts of Combat" section of the game manual) and then either pay the fine or go to jail.
2 of 4: If you're in a big enough fight, you might be able to yield to a guard and avoid being arrested because he immediately turns his attention to other attackers instead of talking to you. (It can help to quickly back away immediately after yielding.)
3 of 4: This will usually happen if the others who are helping you fight the guards have killed several guards before. When they do that, their bounties go up, and guards may attack them on sight, or prefer to attack them over you.
4 of 4: Sometimes in the heat of battle, your allies will injure each other and then start fighting amongst themselves. This is bad, especially in a guild building, so try leaving the building (and maybe the city) and coming back later. Hopefully they'll have settled down without anyone you care about getting killed.
