The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints

Nornal

  • 1 of 20: This Ayleid ruin is at location 47 on the Nibenay map.
  • 2 of 20: WARNING: Don't bother coming here unless your Acrobatics skill is at least 80 (or at least 45 if you have a Water Walking spell or item). Without that skill level, you won't ever be able to reach the empty grand soul gem.
  • 3 of 20: Inside, go forward and through the semi-circular room, then head SE (left) at the path split.
  • 4 of 20: Go through the gate at the SE end of the big room to get to a door to Nornal Varlasel.
  • 5 of 20: In there, you'll first come to a large room with four Varla stone cages in its center.
  • 6 of 20: In order to continue from here, you'll have to get to the upper floor near the Varla cages.
  • 7 of 20: Once you're up there, find the gate that's opened by a press block that's on the wall to the left of it.
  • 8 of 20: A short way past that is a door to Nornal Goriluch.
  • 9 of 20: In Goriluch, move down a water-logged tunnel to reach a very large water-logged room.
  • 10 of 20: You need to get up onto the room's main floor near the NW corner of the water.
  • 11 of 20: Once you're up on the floor, you can use the four nearby "gate release" blocks to let you cross the bridge, but that just leads to an optional treasure area.
  • 12 of 20: On the floor section with the four "gate release" blocks, find the passage in the SW corner that leads to a door that returns you to Nornal Varlasel.
  • 13 of 20: Move forward a short distance, not falling off the sides of the path, to reach a door that leads back to the original Nornal section.
  • 14 of 20: You're now in the NE part of that section, which you couldn't get into before.
  • 15 of 20: Move along the winding path and unlock a gate when you come to it.
  • 16 of 20: You'll soon come to a door to the Nornal Ageasel area, which is the one you're needing to get to.
  • 17 of 20: In Ageasel, go up the stairs, watching out for a swinging mace trap at the top.
  • 18 of 20: In the huge room past that, explore around and grab lots of Welkynd stones and loot all the treasure chests.
  • 19 of 20: As you loot the chests clustered near the NE wall, the center of that wall should open up, revealing a secret passage.
  • 20 of 20: Go down the passage and check the eastern corner of the room beyond to find the empty grand soul gem on a small altar-like thing. Finally!
