The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
How can I get to this optional treasure?
of 9: First, note that you can get onto the floor at the other end of the bridge from in the water the very same way you got up onto this floor. Read on if you'd rather know how the "gate release" blocks can be used to let you cross the bridge.
of 9: Experiment with the "gate release" blocks to see what each one does.
of 9: There are four gates on the bridge, all of which start in the closed position. Each "gate release" block affects two of the gates in certain ways.
of 9: Experimentation should lead you to discover how each block affects each gate. Use my list below if you don't want to make your own.
of 9: Using that information, you should be able to devise a block-pressing strategy that will end with all four gates open at the same time. See below for one possible solution.
of 9: Once you're on the other side of the bridge, you'll be able to look through an unopenable fancy grating to see an Ayleid chest that's in a wall niche a ways back, but there won't appear to be any way to get to it.
of 9: Move up against the fancy grating in order to open secret passages in the walls to the right and left of the grating.
of 9: Now you can go back there and raid the Ayleid chest.
of 9: Unfortunately, it only has a cheap restoration potion or two in it. You'll probably get much better loot from the leveled undead that are back there.
