The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints

Fort Coldcorn's Secret Treasure

  • 1 of 15: Fort Coldcorn is at location 19 on the Great Forest map.
  • 2 of 15: Its secret treasure comes in two parts, the first of which is in an unlocked treasure chest at the fort.
  • 3 of 15: The chest is on the outer ruins' upper floor, on the squarish segment on the east side, but there are no intact stairs you can use to get up there.
  • 4 of 15: Open the chest to find a piece of leveled jewelry, a key, and a note that gives you a clue about the second part of the treasure.
  • 5 of 15: It says the sword leads the way, so look around for a sword.
  • 6 of 15: There's one on the floor fairly near the treasure chest.
  • 7 of 15: Notice which way it's pointing.
  • 8 of 15: If you knocked it around or picked it up, it's okay -- the sword was pointing straight NE.
  • 9 of 15: So hop down to the ground from where the sword is/was and head straight NE along the sloping ground.
  • 10 of 15: You'll pass between a couple of smaller rocks right before you reach the huge one that the note mentions.
  • 11 of 15: NOTE: You can get to the same huge rock from Glademist Cave (location 18 on the map) by going almost directly south.
  • 12 of 15: Go around to the huge rock's north side to find a locked treasure chest.
  • 13 of 15: It can only be opened by the key from the chest at the fort, so I hope you brought it with you.
  • 14 of 15: Inside this chest is a leveled dagger and a "note of bounty" that doesn't seem to mean much.
  • 15 of 15: NOTE: There are three more identical "note of bounty" items in the game if you're interested in collecting them all, though there's no prize for doing so.
