The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
Is there another way that'll work with the axe?
of 10: There are a couple of ways to create permanent bound weapons in which you can always drop every weapon that's summoned, including the one you have equipped.
of 10: One way is to have an Armorer skill of 75 or more.
of 10: Cast your bound weapon spell and then use repair hammers to repair the bound weapons up above their starting condition of 100.
of 10: You can then drop *all* of the bound weapons you summoned, including the equipped one.
of 10: If your Armorer skill is too low for that, then get your Destruction skill up to 50 and create a cheap Disintegrate Weapon on Self spell.
of 10: Make your bound weapon spells last at least five seconds so you can cast them and then immediately cast your Disintegrate Weapon spell to damage the equipped weapon. That way you can repair it back up to a 100 condition to make it droppable.
of 10: If you've got the Shivering Isles expansion, a better way to damage the bound weapons would be to use the Amulet of Disintegration. See the "The Coming Storm" misc. quest in the "The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles" UHS hint file.
of 10: Note that both of those methods are mainly useful with the bound axe since everything else is easier to get with the multi-bound-weapon spells.
of 10: They're also useful with the bound weapons you can get from Rune Stones. In particular, Reman stones can give bound swords, which is helpful if you want one and your Conjuration skill is nowhere near 75 yet. (Note that after you drop the bound sword, you can exit fight mode to cancel the sword's spell instead of waiting it out.)
of 10: NOTE: Due to the long duration on the rune stones' bound items, you could go fight a nearby creature or two to get your weapon damaged instead of using a Disintegrate Weapon spell. This is useful if you're unable to make or cast such a spell.
