The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
Drain Skill Trick
of 8: You can get out of having to deal with master trainers by using customized Drain Skill spells.
of 8: Start by going to Sulinus Vassinus in the Skingrad Mages Guild and buying one of his cheap skill-draining spells.
of 8: Then gain access to a spellmaking altar if you haven't already.
of 8: Use a spellmaking altar to create a new Drain Skill spell for the skill that you want master-level training in.
of 8: Set the spell's magnitude to 100, and its duration to 1 second. Also, make sure it works on Self rather than Touch or Target.
of 8: If you cast that spell right before talking to a regular trainer for that skill (see the Trainer List), you'll be able to get some really cheap training no matter what your current skill level is.
of 8: The draining effect will wear off right after you say goodbye to the trainer, and your skill level will end up being what it was before plus however many times you trained.
of 8: NOTE: You can use this trick to raise skills beyond the max value of 100. However, only the Athletics and Acrobatics skills show any improvement at values past 100, and it's *very* minimal.
