The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints
Bounty Removal
of 8: Once you sign up with the Thieves Guild, you can meet Armand Cristophe in the usual place at the usual time (or visit him in his home a ways north of the "usual place") and ask him about "Pay off my fines and bounty."
of 8: He'll get rid of your bounty for half of its current value. Also, he won't confiscate any of your stolen items like the guards will.
of 8: S'krivva the Khajiit, who has a house in Bravil, will offer the same service. (If she's not home, try the Lonely Suitor Lodge.)
of 8: The only trouble is that all guards everywhere will psychically know if you have a bounty of any amount on you, and will pursue you relentlessly.
of 8: NOTE: Guards who aren't already hostile to you will ignore you unless you talk to them or have a bounty of 500 gold or more.
of 8: Even if you escape the city you're in and run deep into the wilderness, you still may be unable to fast-travel or use the rest feature at all.
of 8: So when you've resisted arrest and are running from the guards, you'll have to run all the way to Bravil or the Imperial City if you want Cristophe or S'krivva to remove your bounty.
of 8: The moral of this is to always quicksave before committing a crime, and quickrestore and try again if you're caught. (Or drop all your stolen goods and deal with a guard unless you're *very* close to Cristophe or S'krivva.)
