The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints

Bad Medicine

  • 1 of 17: Talk to Ocheeva about "Contract" to get this quest.
  • 2 of 17: This time, you're to infiltrate Fort Sutch (location 24 on the Gold Coast map) and remain unseen while switching some dying warlord's medicine with the poison that Ocheeva gave you.
  • 3 of 17: WARNING: You'll need a fairly high Sneak skill and a spell or item that can make you invisible or put a Chameleon effect on you in order to finish this quest the best way and get the bonus reward.
  • 4 of 17: Before you leave the sanctuary, talk to Teinaava about "Contract" to get a really good tip on entering the fort undetected.
  • 5 of 17: Looking around the Fort Sutch area, you'll find a trap door on a bit of flooring a short way SE of the main fort entrance.
  • 6 of 17: Pick the lock on the trap door and go through it to get to the water-logged tunnel that Teinaava told you about.
  • 7 of 17: As soon as you're past the water and reach some higher tunnels, it's time to start sneaking carefully around.
  • 8 of 17: When you come to a path split that leads NW and SW, take the SW branch to find a side area with two locked gates you can't open, each of which has a little treasure niche across from it.
  • 9 of 17: Wait a bit, then follow them through the gate.
  • 10 of 17: Past the gate, sneak straight ahead and turn right the first chance you get.
  • 11 of 17: Keep right as you sneak along and make your way around to where the green quest arrow on your local map is pointing. (This would be a good time to have a Night-Eye spell in effect.)
  • 12 of 17: You'll come to the room with the cabinet that Roderick's medicine is being kept in.
  • 13 of 17: You need to sneak up to it and open it, take the medicine out of it, and put in the "Roderick's Poison" bottle that Ocheeva gave you. (It'll be in the "misc" section of your inventory.)
  • 14 of 17: You then need to sneak back out of the fort the way you came in without being seen. This can be exceedingly hard, especially if the orc hears you approaching the medicine cabinet and positions himself so that you can't easily sneak out.
  • 15 of 17: If the patrolling mercenary is in the tunnel that leads back out to the trap door, you can instead head for the fort's main exit (marked on the local map with a red arrow), but you'll have to unlock a couple of gates on the way.
  • 16 of 17: If you can make it all the way out unseen, you can return to Ocheeva and get the bonus reward of a magic shirt called The Deceiver's Finery.
  • 17 of 17: If you just can't do it all stealthily, you'll have to run into Roderick's room, attack him to kill him, and then make a fast getaway (or stay and kill off the other mercenaries if you like).
