The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Hints

Through a Nightmare, Darkly

  • 1 of 15: Asking around Bravil about rumors, you'll learn that a friend of Kud-Ei's has gone missing.
  • 2 of 15: She's at the local Mages Guild, so go there and ask her about Henantier. (You can keep talking to her until she gives you this topic on her own if you can't ever get it from rumors.)
  • 3 of 15: After she tells you about Henantier's situation, talk to her again and say "Lead on."
  • 4 of 15: Follow her as she leads you to the upstairs part of Henantier's house, where he lies asleep, trapped in a dreamworld.
  • 5 of 15: Talk to Kud-Ei about "Dreamworld" to learn what's happening here and how you can help.
  • 6 of 15: Talk to her again when you're ready to proceed, and she'll give you the Dreamworld Amulet.
  • 7 of 15: Equip it and then choose to sleep for an hour on the empty bed near Henantier's in order to enter his dreamworld.
  • 8 of 15: You'll have no possessions except for the Dreamworld Amulet, and it won't let you cast any spells, so you'll have to make do with things you find in the dreamworld.
  • 9 of 15: Talk to Henantier, who's standing nearby, to learn that he's lost several things in this dreamworld, and you're both stuck in it until you find and restore those things to him.
  • 10 of 15: There are four items, and each is stored in a separate "test" area.
  • 11 of 15: Two of the doors to the test areas are in the upstairs room you start in, and the other two are downstairs. (The stairs are in the NW corner of the upstairs room, so look around there until you find them.)
  • 12 of 15: Below are hints for getting the item you need from each of the four tests, which you can do in any order.
  • 13 of 15: After you retrieve all four elements, talk to Henantier about "Dreamworld" to get yourselves taken back to the waking world.
  • 14 of 15: You'll get all your old items back (and lose all of your dreamworld items).
  • 15 of 15: Find Henantier somewhere in his house and talk to him to get your reward of some magic scrolls.
