Tears of the Savior

  • 1 of 18: Talk to S'drassa in the Leyawiin Mages Guild to learn that he's searching for special crystals called Garridan's Tears.
  • 2 of 18: He'll refer you to Julienne Fanis at the Imperial City's Arcane University.
  • 3 of 18: Go to the university and find Fanis in the tower lobby area.
  • 4 of 18: Ask her about Garridan's Tears to learn the story behind them, then go to the "First Edition" store in the Market District and find the book she mentions.
  • 5 of 18: The only way to get the book is to buy it from Phintias, so do so and then read it in inventory.
  • 6 of 18: This will get Frostfire Glade added to your world map, plus a mention of special refined frost salts that only Fanis has.
  • 7 of 18: You can buy one from her shop inventory, or you can steal one from nearby.
  • 8 of 18: Before you head for the glade, return to S'drassa in Leyawiin and talk to him about Garridan's Tears to get five special potions called Philter of Frostward. Each one will make you totally immune to frost damage for 45 seconds.
  • 9 of 18: Now you're ready to go to Frostfire Glade (location 6 on the Great Forest map) and start on your search.
  • 10 of 18: You'll have to pass through the Frostfire Cave first.
  • 11 of 18: It's a simple cave with a few leveled creature enemies, and you should have no trouble reaching the magical door at its north end.
  • 12 of 18: If you have a portion of refined frost salts, the door will open for you and admit you to the actual glade area.
  • 13 of 18: WARNING: The center of the glade area is *severely* cold, and you'll want to start using those special potions you got from S'drassa to stay warm if you're not immune to magic.
  • 14 of 18: Kill the frost atronach that's wandering around in the frozen area, preferably after luring him away from it with ranged attacks, then approach the large snow-covered rocks in the center to get a journal entry about what happened here.
  • 15 of 18: Now you need to quickly look around to find all five of the Garridan's Tear items, which are small spiky crystals that can be hard to see on a snowy background.
  • 16 of 18: When you get the fifth one, run for the door that leads back to Frostfire Cave.
  • 17 of 18: Get back to the Leyawiin Mages Guild and talk to S'drassa to turn over the tears and get paid.
  • 18 of 18: NOTE: Awhile after you turn the tears over, S'drassa will put them in the display case in the corner near his area. If you can sneakily pick the tough lock on the case, you can steal the tears back and sell them. (If you're a Mages Guild member, they don't even register as stolen, and you can sell them to Alves Uvenim, who works at the table near S'drassa's desk.)
