The Orange Box: Portal Hints
Chamber 18 in Least Time
1 of 14: In the starting room, quickly fire an orange portal onto the ceiling near the very back of the room.
2 of 14: Next, put a blue portal on the floor directly beneath you, then quickly turn right and fire a blue portal onto the floor of the two-dot ledge as you fall.
3 of 14: Shoot an orange portal onto the nearby concrete wall, then jump through it to get onto the two-dot ledge.
4 of 14: Put an orange portal on the cement ceiling that's way above the three-dot ledge, then fire a blue portal at your feet.
5 of 14: As you're falling toward the three-dot ledge, fire a blue portal onto the spot where you're going to land, then quickly look up and fire an orange portal onto the extended wall section that's above the button-opened door's ledge.
6 of 14: That's a very difficult maneuver to pull off, but if you do it right, you'll be quickly flung onto the ledge with the big button.
7 of 14: Run-jump into the room with the button post, then use the button to extend the nearby wall segment.
8 of 14: Run around and put an orange portal onto the extended wall segment as soon as it stops moving, then run over to the nearby drop-off that leads down to a lower concrete ledge. Drop toward that ledge and open a blue portal on it that you can fall through. That should get you flung to the storage cube's area.
9 of 14: Grab the cube and hold it in front of you to help deflect turret fire as you drop off the edge of the floor and land in the small room below. (Remember to lean on the "Move backward" key as you fall).
10 of 14: Back up and drop the cube, then fire an orange portal into one of the room's concrete walls. Press the button on the post, then fire a blue portal at the wall just above the extending wall section.
11 of 14: Grab the cube and run through the orange portal to drop down behind the extended wall section. Quickly make your way to the big button and drop the cube on it.
12 of 14: Put an orange portal on the wall to the right of the button-opened door, then drop down to the three-dot ledge and open a blue portal underneath yourself after landing on the ledge. (You don't want to get flung.)
13 of 14: Look through the button-opened door and fire a blue portal onto the concrete ceiling you can see a ways past it. (Don't get the portal too far to the left, or you may fall into a pit.)
14 of 14: Run through the orange portal to drop down in the final area, where you'll finish the challenge by using the usual strategy. (Note that to get the best time, you'll have to get it all right on the first attempt, just like in the advanced version of this chamber.)
