The Orange Box: Portal Hints
Chamber 17 with Least Portals (Method 1)
1 of 12: It's possible to get through this chamber by only using two portals.
3 of 12: When you get to the start of the first energy orb corridor, fire a blue portal at the spot on the wall that the orb bounces off of.
4 of 12: Then proceed as normal until you reach the large lift room.
5 of 12: Be sure to take your cube with you as you drop down to the lift room's main floor. That way, you won't have to use portals to go back after it.
6 of 12: Use the cube to get an orb into receptor #1, then go drop it on the raised button next to the second door that blocks receptor #3.
7 of 12: Now use the standard procedure to get an energy orb into receptor #3.
8 of 12: The advantage of doing them in this order is that since you didn't use the other orb corridor's orb with receptor #2, the orb firer that provided receptor #3's orb will still be firing orbs.
9 of 12: You're out of portals if you want to score a 2 on this challenge, so you're going to have to use the companion cube to deflect the incoming orbs until one of them bounces into receptor #2.
10 of 12: The way to do this is to set the cube in the doorway that's between the first button-opened door and the main lift room so that the orb will hit it and bounce into receptor #2.
