The Orange Box: Portal Hints
How can I get to the portal gun upgrade?
1 of 12: Notice that it's on a device that rotates and fires it periodically.
2 of 12: Why not open a blue portal nearby and watch to see where all the orange portals appear?
3 of 12: Fire a blue portal into a nearby concrete wall and then look through it.
4 of 12: There's only one orange portal location that allows you to walk onto a safe platform rather than fall to the toxic floor below.
5 of 12: On the platform, notice that there's a big red button on a small pedestal.
6 of 12: Pressing it will briefly open the door that's in the wall you're facing. (It's the door will all the blue dots leading along the wall to it.)
8 of 12: After you open a portal to let the energy orb out, go over to the large window through which you can see the moving platform that's attached to the portal gun's central platform.
9 of 12: When the energy orb enters the receptor, the moving platform will move left and stop next to a wall.
10 of 12: That's one of the walls that the portal gun fires at, so make a blue portal next to you.
11 of 12: Watch through your new portal until you see the moving platform, then step through and get on it.
12 of 12: Ride it across to the portal gun's central platform, then pick the gun up to gain the ability to open orange portals.
