Portal 2 Hints

How can I move on to Chapter 2?

  • 1 of 10: Looking past where you got the portal gun, you'll see a narrow, high-up passage that you can't reach -- at least not without using portals.
  • 2 of 10: There's no preset orange portal in the area, but note that you can now make orange portals as well as blue portals with your new portal gun.
  • 3 of 10: Looking around, you'll find portal-friendly wall surfaces both near you and in the back of the high-up passage you're trying to get to.
  • 4 of 10: So fire a blue portal onto a nearby wall and an orange portal onto one of the back walls in the high-up passage. (Or put an orange portal on a nearby wall and a blue portal in the back of the high-up passage. It doesn't matter which way you do it.)
  • 5 of 10: Go through the portal to get up there, then go around the corner to find more junk blocking your way.
  • 6 of 10: There are portal-friendly wall surfaces on both sides of the blockage, so get past it the same way you got up to the passage.
  • 7 of 10: At the end of the passage is a room that's set on a higher floor that you can't jump onto.
  • 8 of 10: Drop down into the next passage, then make your way to its other end.
  • 9 of 10: Go down the twitching metal frame room's side passage until you reach a spot where GLaDOS helpfully moves some junk out of your way.
  • 10 of 10: Past that, go through a door and a force field to reach an elevator shaft. Wait for the elevator to arrive, then enter it to be taken to Chapter 2: The Cold Boot.
