Portal 2 Hints

How can I get a storage cube?

  • 1 of 10: There's a button pedestal on the exit platform, so press its button and see what happens.
  • 2 of 10: That's supposed to drop a cube onto the first faith plate, but it instead drops several pieces of misc. garbage.
  • 3 of 10: The faith plates will bounce the garbage along to the area with the two extended wall panels. If you have portals on both panels, the garbage will be bounced all the way to the exit platform.
  • 4 of 10: To avoid the garbage, you can stand out of its way, or you can relocate one or both portals before the garbage reaches the extended wall panels.
  • 5 of 10: However, there is one piece of garbage that you'll need if you're wanting to get the Final Transmission achievement. Another piece of garbage can be used to get the Pturretdactyl achievement, though that can be easily gotten later in the game if you don't get it now.
  • 6 of 10: From then on, hitting the pedestal's button will cause a storage cube to drop down and get faith-plated along.
  • 7 of 10: It'll land on the extended wall panels' ledge if you don't have portals in place on the panels, and you can portal over to that ledge to get it.
  • 8 of 10: If you do have portals on the wall panels, the cube will be flung onwards by them, and it'll come hurtling over to the exit platform.
  • 9 of 10: If you stand in its path, you can catch it and keep it from falling down to the lower ledge that's near the exit platform.
  • 10 of 10: If you let it fall down to the lower ledge, you can drop down and get it. To get back up to the exit platform, put a blue portal on a wall on your level, then put an orange portal on the portal-friendly wall section that's on the right side of the exit platform.
