Portal 2 Hints

Once in the upper area, how can I get to the exit?

  • 1 of 12: Looking around the upper area, you'll see two slanty extended wall panels on one side, and a couple of higher-up areas on the other side that you can't jump onto.
  • 2 of 12: You should be able to deduce that you'll need to use portal flinging to get onto the two higher-up areas.
  • 3 of 12: There's one slanty wall panel for each higher-up area. To attempt a fling to either area, put an orange portal on the slanty wall panel that's directly across from it, then look down at the chamber's lower floor.
  • 4 of 12: Put a blue portal on the floor so that you can drop straight down into it, then do so. That will fling you out of the orange portal and into the higher-up area that's across from it.
  • 5 of 12: Theoretically, at least. As it turns out, you can only get to the lower of the two higher-up areas that way. There's no way to get enough momentum from a portal fling to get to the higher area (which is the one with the exit door).
  • 6 of 12: So fling yourself onto the lower of the two areas to see what's there.
  • 7 of 12: You'll find that it has a big red button on its floor. Try standing on the button to see what it does.
  • 8 of 12: For once, it doesn't open the exit door. Instead, it raises a sort of "extender platform" that's attached to the exit door's floor.
  • 9 of 12: With that platform raised, you could portal-fling yourself into the exit door's area. However, you'll need something to weight down the button for you while you're doing the fling thing.
  • 10 of 12: The item you need for that is the companion cube.
  • 11 of 12: Once the cube is on the button, portal-fling yourself onto the extender platform.
  • 12 of 12: Before you go through the exit door and on to the elevator, you might want to get the Preservation of Mass achievement.
