Portal 2 Hints
How can I use the two up-and-down platforms to reach the exit?
1 of 12: Visually follow the blue dots that lead away from the platforms to see what makes them go up and down.
2 of 12: It seems that the big red button on the ceiling moves the second platform, and the laser receptacle on the wall near the first platform moves it.
3 of 12: Lowering the first platform is your first priority, so get the laser beam redirected into its receptacle.
4 of 12: Lowering the first platform while you're down on the laser area's lower floor doesn't really help, since you can't get to the platform without moving the portals. Before fixing that little detail, take the time to damage Wheatley's monitor if you're going for the Smash TV achievement.
5 of 12: Use portals to get yourself back onto the main floor, then reposition the portals so that the laser beam will go into the first platform's receptacle again.
6 of 12: You can then get on the first platform and relocate either of the portals to get it to rise back up. However, that does you little good unless you already have a way rigged to lower and re-raise the second platform.
7 of 12: The big red button on the ceiling is connected to the second platform, so how could you press it and unpress it while standing on the first platform?
8 of 12: That's where your franken-turret will come in handy again. Drop down and get it out of the laser beam's side area if you haven't already.
9 of 12: Set it on the floor directly underneath the big red button, then redo the steps that lower the first platform and re-raise it with you on it.
10 of 12: You now need to raise the franken-turret up to the big red button using the excursion funnel. To get it working again, put a blue portal on the floor under the redirection cube to get it out of the laser beam's way.
11 of 12: Put an orange portal on the surface that the excursion funnel hits, then put a blue portal under the franken-turret.
12 of 12: Get on the second platform after it lowers, then move either the blue or orange portal to get it to rise back up. You can then go through the exit door.
