Portal 2 Hints
How can I lower the first raised barrier?
of 9: Step on the aerial faith plate near the chamber's entrance to be catapulted up to the first barrier.
of 9: Notice the yellow dots connecting the barrier's supporting arms to the nearby laser receptacle.
of 9: Perhaps the barrier is raised because the receptacle is getting power from that laser beam.
of 9: To test out this theory, find an object that you can use to block the beam.
of 9: If you look back toward the main floor's faith plate, then to the left, you'll see a storage cube in a side area.
of 9: Pick up the storage cube, then drop into the pit without landing on your blue portal. (If you didn't put a blue portal in the pit, do so now.)
of 9: Drop through the blue portal to end up on the main floor, then use the faith plate to get the cube up to the laser beam.
of 9: ALTERNATIVE: You could relocate your orange portal to a spot on the main floor that's below the laser beam, then drop from the cube's ledge into the blue portal. That should fling you onto the ledge next to the barrier, though you may not quite make it due to your (or the orange portal's) facing. If not, just use the faith plate to get up there.
of 9: Drop the cube right in front of the receptacle to block the laser beam, which will lower the nearby barrier.
