Portal 2 Hints

After I get the cube, how can I leave?

  • 1 of 8: Between the cube's floor and the glass-shielded exit alcove is a big red button.
  • 2 of 8: The obvious thing to do is drop the cube onto the button, but doing so will lower the exit alcove's glass barrier and allow the two turrets in it to shoot you.
  • 3 of 8: There are several ways to take those turrets down or to skip past them.
  • 4 of 8: Before you put the cube on the button, open a blue portal on a wall near the big red button so that the extended light bridge will be between the button and the glass shield. Put the cube on the button, then go around to where you can run into the exit alcove and past the turrets without getting shot.
  • 5 of 8: You can then just move on, or you can have some fun with the turrets first. It's easy to knock them over, destroy them by carrying them into the force field past the exit door, or get the Pturretdactyl achievement by dropping one of them onto a faith plate (after destroying or knocking over the other one).
  • 6 of 8: Another way to handle the turrets is to put the cube on the big red button, then start running toward the glass barrier. As soon as it's low enough, fire a blue portal onto the wall that's past it and on the right. That'll block the turrets and allow you to grab them by the feet and shake them around. (Or you can get behind them by going through the orange portal, then have fun with them as mentioned above.)
  • 7 of 8: A third way to handle the situation involves trapping yourself in the exit alcove, thereby getting a bonus message from GLaDOS.
  • 8 of 8: In any case, having the cube on the button will open the exit door, allowing you to leave the chamber.
