Portal 2 Hints

How can I get through the firing range?

  • 1 of 15: Go down to the end of the hallway to find some unopenable doors. You'll need to get into the room past those doors before you can leave the area.
  • 2 of 15: The only way to do that is to use portals to move through the test-firing range.
  • 3 of 15: There are no holes in the glass walls that separate the hallway from the firing range, but look up above the glass wall sections.
  • 4 of 15: There's a bit of empty space between the wall sections and the ceiling that you can fire portals through.
  • 5 of 15: Examining the firing range, you'll see that its ceiling is portal-friendly.
  • 6 of 15: Fire a blue portal onto the ceiling (preferably near the back), then put an orange portal on the nearby wall and go through it.
  • 7 of 15: If you fall down in front of the wall section that's behind the target dummy, quickly run around behind the wall for cover.
  • 8 of 15: Peek out from behind the wall and look across the firing range to see into the room that's past the hallway's unopenable doors.
  • 9 of 15: Fire a blue portal onto that room's back wall, then duck back into cover.
  • 10 of 15: Since you can't get back up to the ceiling, look for another portal-friendly surface to put your orange portal on.
  • 11 of 15: The only one available is the front side of the wall section you're hiding behind, and it's right in the line of fire.
  • 12 of 15: Have you noticed that some of the turrets that come by are different from regular turrets?
  • 13 of 15: All they can shoot off is their mouths, which can't hurt you, so peek out and wait for one of them to come by.
  • 14 of 15: When one does, quickly run around to where you can put an orange portal on the wall section and go through it. (Note that there are usually two or more defective turrets in a row, which will make escaping unshot easier.)
  • 15 of 15: As soon as you're through, turn right and run out of the room to avoid taking any fire through the portal.
