Portal 2 Hints

How can I sabotage the production line?

  • 1 of 12: The scanner is going by its memory of what a good turret is only because the template is missing from the scanning platform.
  • 2 of 12: You could try standing on the scanning platform to get all of the turrets rejected, since none of them look like you, but all that'll do is get you the Scanned Alone achievement.
  • 3 of 12: What if you were to put one of the defective turrets on the scanning platform? Maybe then the scanner would pass all of the defective turrets and dispose of all of the functional ones.
  • 4 of 12: Look out at the production line through the window. What happens to the defective turrets after they're scanned?
  • 5 of 12: They get punted over to a nearby disposal chute.
  • 6 of 12: There's a walkway section near the chute that the defective turrets fly right over after being punted.
  • 7 of 12: Maybe you could go out there and catch one!
  • 8 of 12: Leave the scanning room, then go back the way you came until you reach the walkway section that's nearest the disposal chute.
  • 9 of 12: Stand against the railing right next to the "CAUTION Live Turrets" sign and watch the production line.
  • 10 of 12: The defective turrets will sail right over your head when they get rejected, so look up and wait for the next one to fly over so you can catch it. (Or wait for one to bounce off of you and land on the walkway, which will sometimes happen if you're standing in the right spot.)
  • 11 of 12: Carry the intercepted turret to the control room, then reenter the scanning room using your portals.
  • 12 of 12: Push the defective turret toward the scanning platform to get it to automatically drop into place. From then on, all defective turrets will be passed, and all non-defective ones will be booted into the disposal chute.
