The "Hanging Stones" Puzzle
1 of 24: Although this puzzle can be solved before you've been to the temple, you will need something from there to complete the puzzle that follows. It is therefore preferable to tackle it only after you have been to the temple.
2 of 24: For starters, you must actually find the "hanging stones".
3 of 24: They are on the walls of the courtyard situated through the rear entrance of the house under the stairs.
4 of 24: You will need to do a little research on the subject.
5 of 24: Have you read the book inside the house?
6 of 24: To find it, go back inside the house and turn right -- it's on the table.
7 of 24: The book contains many vital clues to this puzzle, so read it carefully.
8 of 24: When you read the last page, you will be told that "the hanging stones contain a great and secret force...".
9 of 24: You also learn that the name of the force is "four and forty".
10 of 24: There are numbers on all the other pages.
11 of 24: What is the relationship between the numbers and "four and forty"?
12 of 24: Only a certain combination of some of the numbers add up to "44".
13 of 24: 4 + 8 + 32
14 of 24: Do you notice anything else about the numbers?
15 of 24: They are all contained inside differently shaped frames!
16 of 24: Do you recognize the shapes of the frames?
17 of 24: They are the same as the frames around the "hanging stones"!
18 of 24: You therefore only need to concern yourself with 3 of the "hanging stones" (the ones with the same shape frames as the numbers 4, 8 and 32).
19 of 24: Pushing a "stone" changes it to a darker color.
20 of 24: You obviously need to work out which "stone" to push in each of the frames.
21 of 24: Some of the "stones" have strange symbols on them -- these are the key to which "stone" to push.
22 of 24: Only one of the symbols appears in all 3 of the relevant frames, but does not appear in the others.
23 of 24: Also, if you look closely, it is the only symbol on the 4th row of stones in each frame.
24 of 24: Push the "stone" with this symbol in the relevant frames. You hear the "puzzle solved" confirmation and find yourself at the alchemy workshop.
