Runaway: A Road Adventure Hints
How do I open the safe?
of 17: No one in town knows the combination any more. You'll have to figure it out yourself.
of 17: Actually, there's a well-known trick you can employ, but you'll need a very specific item.
of 17: When you turn the dial on a lock, it will make a barely audible "click" when it gets to the right position.
of 17: With the proper equipment, you might be able to hear this click.
of 17: What better tool for amplifying sound than a stethoscope?
of 17: Think of who might have a stethoscope.
of 17: A doctor certainly would.
of 17: Or at least, the remains of a doctor.
of 17: The town doctor (the man who's locked up in the Sheriff's office) has one in his briefcase. You need to get in the cell to get to it.
of 17: Take the stethoscope. You can now listen closely to the safe's lock.
of 17: The only thing you have left to figure out is exactly how to work the lock. Familiarity with locks in general could help here, or you could try asking for information.
of 17: If you ask Sushi about the safe lock, she'll mention that you need to turn it to the right first.
of 17: Use the stethoscope with the safe, and start turning it right.
of 17: When you hear the tumbler fall into place, start turning it left.
of 17: When the second tumbler falls into place, turn it right again.
of 17: There's really no way to mess this up -- Brian will stop automatically whenever a tumbler falls.
of 17: However, if you really want to know, the combination is: 85 right -- 29 left -- 54 right.
