Sam & Max: Season 3 Hints

How do I interrogate these, um, people?

  • 1 of 9: Each person you talk to will have a couple of different things to say, and if you don't respond they'll run through them one after the other, after which you can say "Again" to start from the beginning again.
  • 2 of 9: Your interrogation consists of interrupting specific speeches with the appropriate interjection. That is, if you think they're lying, say so. If you want to shake them up, threaten them. And if you want to depress them or get a laugh, say something "noirish."
  • 3 of 9: The best strategy is to listen to everything the suspect has to say without interrupting so you know where they're going, then tell them to go through it again. The second time through, you'll have a better idea of where to interrupt and what to say.
  • 4 of 9: For example, with the moles, their first speech is a disagreement about whether they were woken by a boom or a bam. This isn't too important, and it's probably not a lie, but it's tedious. Interrupt this speech with a threat or "Hurry up" or anything else you want.
  • 5 of 9: Next, they say that they didn't see who took Sam's brain, but there's a hesitation there that's suspicious. Interrupt "I was totally unconscious the whole time" with "You're lying!"
  • 6 of 9: Now you know who took the brain, and Sam goes driving -- during which he finds someone new to talk to. You can save the game while your suspects are talking, incidentally.
  • 7 of 9: Now it's time to go through them again and confront them with the contradictions in their stories.
  • 8 of 9: When you have the two items dropped by the combatants in the fight (Dr. Norrington's card and the Rhinoplasty), Sam will put them in the Crime-Tron and then drive off to find Max's brain in --
  • 9 of 9: -- the Museum of Mostly Natural History.
