Sam & Max: Season 3 Hints
How do I get Max up to where the Bad Guy is?
of 14: You start out in this area as Max, who's currently down at the foot of the Statue of Liberty. We clearly need to get Max up to the statue's torch, where Sam and Charlie Ho-Tep are. But how?
of 14: Look around you. The only things down here besides Max are those endless lines of clones. What does Max say about them?
of 14: He says, "I've been slapped up in the air by Sam enough times to know I'm never getting past those guys." So if you WANT to go up in the air --
of 14: -- walk over to one of the lines of clones, and they'll send you flying. Unfortunately, this doesn't put us in just the right spot, either the right or the left line of clones. Is there a way to make the clones change their dance pattern?
of 14: If there is, it's not something Max can do. Switch over to Sam (via the Sam icon in the upper right corner of the screen) to see what he can do.
of 14: Talk to Charlie and ask every question you can think of to find out lots of information, but leave "Junior" for last.
of 14: Asking about Junior shows you Charlie's weak point (his doubts about his relationship with Junior) and distracts him long enough for Sam to change the music being played on the piano. So what?
of 14: Changing the music does two things: it changes the location of the tentacles on the statue, and it changes the clones' dance pattern. Experiment with all the songs to see what each one does.
of 14: You can put the tentacles on the statue's date tablet, crown, or face; you can make the clones dance in different styles, from ballet to air guitar to something like trucking; and you can make them go out of just the right or just the left door of the statue. Hmm.
of 14: The lowest part of the statue you can affect is the tablet she holds in her left (your right) hand. And making the clones go out of the left door only means the near line of clones on the right is gone, so you can reach a line of clones farther to the right.
of 14: So change to the music that makes the clones move to the far right, then go over there and get slapped. Wheee!
of 14: Unfortunately, the tablet is too smooth to grab onto. Change the music to the tune that makes the tablet have ribs, then try again.
of 14: Okay, you're almost there. Now you just need a rope or an arm or something to get up to the top.
of 14: Change the music to the one that puts tentacles on the statue's crown, then grab one as it goes past.
