The Secrets of Atlantis Hints
How can I solve this puzzle?
of 9: This is a standard 4-by-4 sliding-tile mosaic puzzle, in which one tile is removed and all other tiles can slide horizontally and vertically (but only into the empty space).
of 9: To see what the puzzle's picture is supposed to look like when it's finished, slide the curtains closed again and examine the design on them.
of 9: The real problem with this puzzle is that its starting configuration is randomly set when you reach Macao. That makes it impossible to give a step-by-step solution in these hints. Read on for some standard mosaic puzzle tips.
of 9: It is typically easiest to begin at one corner, and work outward from there. But which corner to start with?
of 9: The empty slot needs to end up in the bottom right corner, so the best place to begin is the upper left corner, complete the top row, and then "fan out" from there.
of 9: One mosaic-solving strategy is to get the tiles that go in a row or column together anywhere on the board in order, and then move this "train of tiles" around into position. That works well for all but the last few tiles.
of 9: Another classic sliding tile strategy is to carefully pry all the pieces out and then snap them back in in the correct order. Unfortunately, the game doesn't allow you to do that here. You'll just have to keep trying until you get it.
of 9: WARNING: The nearby bouncer in blue will occasionally see you at the puzzle. When he does, you'll get a brief cut-scene of him looking at you. Quickly turn away from the puzzle and move toward the bouncer, then return to the puzzle. (If you don't do this quickly enough, he'll throw you out, and the game will be reset to the point where the gambler gives you the money.)
of 9: If you can't ever get it, write to me at dunigase@yahoo.com and ask for a copy of a saved game that I made after getting the puzzle to where it only needs one simple move to finish solving it.
