How do I translate the old coordinates to new ones?

  • 1 of 11: Look at the symbols from the first two sets of tablets.
  • 2 of 11: Note that they each had one set of coordinates that were crossed out, followed by a new set of coordinates.
  • 3 of 11: There is a direct relationship between the old and new sets of coordinates -- one that holds for both sets of tablets.
  • 4 of 11: You'll need to discover the "algorithm" used to generate the new coordinates on the first two sets of tablets, and apply that same algorithm to the new tablet.
  • 5 of 11: It's a very simple "numeric shift".
  • 6 of 11: Only, it's not done with numbers, it's done with symbols.
  • 7 of 11: And it's not done with decimal arithmetic.
  • 8 of 11: Consider each set of coordinates as a three-digit number (representing the three rings of the control panels).
  • 9 of 11: Each "digit" can range in value from 0 to 11 (not just 0-9), because of its representation on the "clock face" of the Living Ship navigation controls.
  • 10 of 11: Translate the first two tablets to numeric format (both old and new coordinates).
  • 11 of 11: Note the difference for each set, and apply the difference to the coordinates on the new tablet.
