Sentinel: Descendants in Time Hints
I still can't find the right keys -- can you just tell me the answer?
of 21: Let's take the answer step by step, so that at any time, you can stop and attempt to finish up the puzzle without any further hints.
of 21: The first crystal produced a symbol with 4 spokes inside 2 rings. Now, it's a bit difficult to refer to the keys on the pad, simply because they are not on a pure grid. In fact, in some cases, even the "rows and columns" are difficult to distinguish. But hopefully a combination of numbering the rows and/or columns, along with a rough description of the shape of the key, will suffice.
of 21: First of all, looking at the keypad, see if you can discern six distinct columns of shapes.
of 21: The "columns" are a bit crooked, and almost seem to converge in places. But focus on making six columns, each of which reaches from top to bottom of the keypad.
of 21: Look at the fourth column from the left, at the top key in the column. (Don't be distracted by the minute piece of stone that looks like it's the top of the column. You'll notice that there is no active spot on that small cutout.)
of 21: The shape should be something like a square with the top left corner beveled at a 45-degree angle.
of 21: What happens when you press that key?
of 21: You should get 4 balls in the left tray, and 2 in the right.
of 21: (If you do not, perhaps this description is insufficient. Try other keys that are in the vicinity of where you think this hint is describing, and when you find the one that produces 4 balls on the left and 2 on the right, see if you can make out how that could be described as the "top key in the fourth column from the left".)
of 21: When you are sure you have the right key, make note of it, as that key must be the first key pressed in the final solution of this puzzle.
of 21: Next, look in the fifth column from the left, at the second key down from the top.
of 21: (Don't be deceived by the graphic. That top key isn't all one key. Note the fine line running across what appears to be one key, about halfway down. When you click on the top half, or the bottom half, you will get different results. You want the bottom half -- or the second key from the top.)
of 21: The shape of this key is a vertical rectangle that has had the right side cut off on a slight slant.
of 21: What happens when you press that key?
of 21: You should get 1 ball in each of the two trays -- 1 "spoke" and 1 "circle", matching the second crystal symbol.
of 21: Continue in this manner, and the final hints below will show you -- a step at a time -- the answer to the remaining 5 keys that need to be pressed to solve the puzzle.
of 21: The third key can be found in the sixth column -- the last column on the right -- at the very bottom of that column. It is the largest single key on the keypad, and produces a "3:3" pattern of balls.
of 21: The fourth key is in the second column, the second key down. It is much smaller than the last couple, and would be a rectangle if the right side went down as far as the left side. It produces a "2:4" pattern.
of 21: The fifth key is the same key as the first (as the first and fifth crystal projection symbols are the same). It produces a "4:2" pattern.
of 21: The sixth key is immediately to the left of the fifth key, and looks like a square with the bottom right corner cut off at a 45-degree angle. It produces a "1:5" pattern.
of 21: The seventh, and final, key can be found at the very bottom of the first column, and is almost rectangular, except that it is missing a bit of the bottom right corner. It produces a "5:4" pattern.
