The Testament of Sherlock Holmes Hints
How can I tell which card was last used?
of 10: The only way to do that would be to look for certain telltale marks or stains.
of 10: What marks or stains might be on the last card accessed by Farley and/or his secretary?
of 10: Look around to see if you can find anything that might give a clue as to what types of marks to look for.
of 10: The secretary is likely to have touched the card at some point, so go to her office and search around for something else she touched recently that might stain or smudge a card.
of 10: Check the trash can that's on the floor next to her window to find that she recently changed her typewriter ribbon.
of 10: Holmes notices smudges of dark blue ink. If the secretary refiled a card after changing the typewriter's ribbon, it's likely to have a blue ink smudge on it.
of 10: Return to the file cabinet and open the DEF drawer again, then look for a blue ink smudge.
of 10: You can click around on the cards in the drawer, but it's best to just visually scan them for blue ink.
of 10: Check along the left edge of the cards.
of 10: You should see one about halfway back, sticking out a little bit, that has a blue smudge on it. That must be the one you're after.
