The Testament of Sherlock Holmes Hints
How can I figure out what the other two slots need to be set to?
of 10: Checking the "Fraternity symbols" page, you'll see that there are four fraternities listed that start with the letter N.
of 10: You can narrow that down a little by noticing that the photo shows a building that says "University of New York" on it.
of 10: Check the "List of universities' fraternities" page to see what all fraternity symbols are listed next to the University of New York.
of 10: Cross-referencing with the "Fraternity symbols" page, you'll see that only three of the fraternities whose symbols start with an N are represented at the University of New York.
of 10: To further narrow it down, check the card that you found on the small table.
of 10: Notice that it says their success is constant, and then has "3,14." Below that is a diagram of a circle with a diameter line drawn across it.
of 10: All of that is supposed to make you think of the Greek letter pi, since it's used to represent the numerical constant that's needed when calculating the circumference and surface area of a circle. You know, the old "pie are squared" thing. (There's a really bad joke about that, but I refuse to repeat it here.)
of 10: Looking through the three remaining possibilities on the "Fraternity symbols" page, you'll see that only one of them has a pi symbol in it.
of 10: So that must be the one! Beckett was apparently a member of good old "nu zeta pi."
of 10: So set the middle slot on the page to a Z, and the third slot to a capital pi symbol (which I can't reproduce here -- check the Greek alphabet page if you need to).
