The Testament of Sherlock Holmes Hints
How can I solve the wall plaque puzzle?
of 14: Start by filling in the three Greek letters on the little piece of paper.
of 14: Click on the paper to bring up the display of it and the five clue items, then check for clues as to what three Greek letters Beckett's fraternity used.
of 14: The first thing to check is the photo you got from the office wall.
of 14: Use the magnifying glass on its flag to see that it shows a symbol that looks like a lowercase V.
of 14: Check the Greek alphabet page to see that it is in fact a lowercase "nu."
of 14: The way the flag is turned, you can't see what the other two letters of the fraternity are, but you now know the first letter.
of 14: However, if you click on the leftmost slot on the piece of paper, you won't see any lowercase nu's anywhere.
of 14: That's because the Greek letters listed there are all capital ones.
of 14: Check the Greek alphabet page again to see that a capital nu looks just like a capital N.
of 14: So click on the leftmost slot on the paper and choose the N symbol.
of 14: After all three symbols are set, you'll be able to rotate the oars around.
of 14: The first symbol to recreate with the oars is the capital nu (N).
of 14: It's an easy one to do. Leave the left and right oars in their starting positions, and rotate the middle oar twice to get it to provide the \ part of the N.
of 14: Notice that getting it right causes the leftmost oarlock to turn. Now you need to do the other two letters to get the other oarlocks to turn. Once that's done, the puzzle will finally be solved.
