How do I get the false wall connected to the machinery?

  • 1 of 8: Look around for some ropes or chains that you can use.
  • 2 of 8: There's a rope hanging on a nail a bit to the right of the attic door.
  • 3 of 8: Pick it up, then tie it to the iron bar in the false wall.
  • 4 of 8: To do that, select the rope in inventory, then click on the hand icon that's in the spot where you broke away part of the wall's coating. (If you haven't done that yet, you'll need to do it now.)
  • 5 of 8: Follow the rope along after Holmes fastens it to find that it doesn't quite reach the machinery.
  • 6 of 8: You'll need to find some more rope in order to complete the connection.
  • 7 of 8: Go down to the machinery and select the chain in inventory, then click on the unbroken millstone to get the chain wrapped around it.
  • 8 of 8: Turn around and click on the hand icon that's on the other end of the chain to get it connected to the rope.
