The Testament of Sherlock Holmes Hints

How does the bomb-defusing puzzle work?

  • 1 of 12: Each bomb is represented by four pairs of colored lights arranged around the outer ring of the puzzle.
  • 2 of 12: The inner ring is made up of sixteen lights that all start out turned off (gray).
  • 3 of 12: You can click on any of the inner ring's lights repeatedly to cycle it through all of its possible colors (yellow, green, blue, red) and then back off.
  • 4 of 12: Try doing that with two consecutive lights to see what effect it has on the bombs' lights.
  • 5 of 12: When you get two lights in a row that match one pair of a bomb's lights, those will light up.
  • 6 of 12: For instance, set two lights in a row on the inner ring to blue. That'll get the two blue lights in the "SE" bomb's section to light up.
  • 7 of 12: When setting lights for a pair that isn't the same color, you'll need to set the lights in clockwise order, remembering to read them off the bomb display in left-to-right order.
  • 8 of 12: For instance, the "NW" (yellow) bomb's lowest light pair has a yellow light followed by a blue light. To get those lit up, you'd turn any of the inner ring's lights to yellow, then go one space clockwise and turn that light to blue.
  • 9 of 12: The "NE" (red) bomb's lowest light pair has a red light followed by a blue light. To get those lit up, turn any of the inner ring's lights to red, then go one space clockwise and turn that light to blue.
  • 10 of 12: In order to get a bomb's signal switched off, recreate all four of its light pairs anywhere on the inner ring. As soon as the fourth one is finished, you'll get a notification.
  • 11 of 12: While recreating another bomb's four light pairs, you can change some of the ones you set for the previous bomb, and it'll still be marked as shut off. However, that's misleading.
  • 12 of 12: In order to get all four bombs deactivated by Lestrade's men, you'll have to turn off all four of their signals at once.
