The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles Hints
Baiting the Trap
of 15: The only way out of the resonator room is to use the teleportation pad that's just north of the resonator.
of 15: You'll be taken to an observation room, where you'll talk to a guy named Kiliban Nyrandil.
of 15: It seems that adventurers have already infiltrated the place, and you're going to have to stay and help wreck 'em.
of 15: The observation room you start in overlooks the first of three chambers in which you get to choose the fate of one of the hapless adventurers.
of 15: There are basically two choices in each chamber, representing the Mania/Dementia split theme of the whole Shivering Isles region.
of 15: Go over to the observation window and look around to see that there are two push-button-style inactive switches near the window: one to the left and one to the right.
of 15: Look NE of the observation window to find that a gate has opened, allowing you access to a teleporter pad that'll take you to the second observation room.
of 15: As before, walk over to the observation window and wait while the two adventurers come in and your two buttons become active.
of 15: This time, you can get rid of the mage guy by either activating a fire trap to kill him, or dropping bunches of keys into the room to drive him mad.
of 15: Go over to where Kiliban is standing so the next teleporter pad will open up and you can get to the third and final chamber.
of 15: In it, you can choose to raise the dead so they'll kill the orc, or you can summon a ghost illusion to drive him out of his mind.
of 15: When that's done, go talk to Kiliban to get another teleportation pad made accessible. (And loot the bedroom to the west if you want to.)
of 15: After you teleport, Kiliban will give you a weird and powerful new sword, which will either be named Dawnfang or Duskfang, depending on the time of day. For more info on how it works, read through Grommok's journal, which Kiliban also gave you.
of 15: After looting the nearby recovery chest for more goodies (including the Talisman of Abetment), go through the open doorway to get attacked by three new enemies called Knights of Order.
