Singularity Hints

Mutant and Zek Combat Tips

  • 1 of 10: Notice that there are three red explosive barrels on your ledge, and that you can pick them up with your gravity power. Try picking one up, moving over to the edge of the ledge, and throwing it down at a mutant.
  • 2 of 10: Ker-blaaam! This gravity power may just make a decent Half-Life 2 gravity gun substitute after all! Quickly grab another barrel and throw it.
  • 3 of 10: The mutants will be coming after you now, so leave the third barrel alone and impulse-blast (or shotgun-blast) the mutants that climb up to your ledge.
  • 4 of 10: Pick up the third barrel and drop down to the ground. Turn left and throw the barrel at the last two mutants before they can close with you, then finish them off with the assault rifle, shotgun, or impulse blasts.
  • 5 of 10: Zeks are going to be your next problem, though you have time to prepare before they arrive. Do so by stockpiling explosive barrels near the ledge drop-off. There are three next to the truck that has a big tree growing through its truck bed.
  • 6 of 10: When you're ready for the combat to begin, go past the tree-growing truck and approach the railed stairs that lead to an open gate. Don't go up them, but sprint quickly back to your barrel stash.
  • 7 of 10: Pick up barrels and throw them at zeks as they come after you. Hopefully, you'll be able to blast multiple zeks with some of your barrels. When zeks get too close to barrel-blast, hit them with impulse and then the shotgun.
  • 8 of 10: Watch for zeks to conjure their own barrels to hurl at you. You can theoretically catch them and hurl them back, but that's hard to do, especially if another zek is closing on you. It's best to dodge their barrels and keep shooting.
  • 9 of 10: Alternately, you might want to forget the barrel stockpile and fight the zeks on the steps since they'll be bottlenecked at the open gate. Carry one barrel over there to toss at the first zeks, then stay near the top of the steps while using impulse and the shotgun to kill them as they come after you. Try not to let them force you back, since that'll remove the bottleneck advantage.
  • 10 of 10: A third strategy involves using the nearby garage door to take cover from the zeks and make the combat very easy.
