The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Game Add-Ons (DLC) Hints
Speak to Harkon.
1 of 5: Follow Serana down to where Lord Harkon is, then wait for him to talk to you. (Note that you might want to make a regular save before he does, since this is where the main questline splits.)
2 of 5: When he offers to give you his blood so that you can become a vampire lord, you'll need to choose whether or not to accept.
3 of 5: If you're wanting to side with Harkon and be a vampire lord, you'd better accept (though note that you can become a vampire lord later on if you refuse now). If you're planning on sticking with the Dawnguard and fighting vampires, you'll need to refuse his "gift."
4 of 5: If you refuse to become a vampire lord, you'll be immediately ejected from the castle, and you'll get the first of the Dawnguard Quests.
5 of 5: If you decide to accept Harkon's gift, you'll wake up in the castle's cathedral area. Move up to Harkon to get him to talk to you, after which he'll give you a brief tutorial on how to use your vampire lord form and its various powers. When that's over, you'll get the first of the Vampire Quests.
