The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Game Add-Ons (DLC) Hints
Find Resonance Gems across Solstheim to complete the Kagrumez trials.
of 11: Check the pattern on the next closed gate to see that you're going to need a total of three resonance gems to trigger the second trial. If you only have two, you're going to need to go find another one.
of 11: The easiest way to get one is to buy or pickpocket the one that Revus Sarvani has. He can be found near the silt strider that's "docked" next to the stream a bit NW of Tel Mithryn.
of 11: Come back here and examine the pattern on the gate, then use the nearby lever to lower a wall. You can then talk to the steadfast dwarven spider and get it to follow you back to the huge chamber with the control console.
of 11: Place your three resonance gems on the console in the pattern that's on the second gate to activate the second trial. It's similar to the first one, except that the dwarven creatures you have to fight will be tougher. Also, you'll have your steadfast spider companion, and you can sprint back to the room with the second gate to avoid getting surrounded.
of 11: Past the second gate, move on to the third one, then notice that its pattern has four colored circles on it. That means you'll need to hunt down another resonance gem.
of 11: The only two that are left are in Solstheim's other dwarven ruins. Either do the "Looting Fahlbtharz" undocumented quest or the "The Path of Knowledge" mainline quest. (Note that you don't need to do both before returning here, since you only need one more gem.)
of 11: Return once you have four resonance gems, then study the pattern that's on the third gate. You can also use the nearby lever to gain access to a steadfast dwarven sphere that you can have follow you into the next combat.
of 11: Return to the control console and use your four resonance gems to enter the third gate's pattern and start the third trial. It works just like the previous one, once again with tougher enemies.
of 11: Go through the third gate and on to a room with a dead dwarven centurion. Look past it for a small platform with some treasure on it, including the unique Dwarven Black Bow of Fate.
of 11: When you're ready to leave, go down the room's west-side passage and drop down into the control console's chamber (or go back the way you came to avoid a slightly painful fall).
