The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Game Add-Ons (DLC) Hints
Looting Fahlbtharz.
of 18: Journey to the dwarven ruin called Fahlbtharz, then deal with the rieklings that attack you outside before going inside.
of 18: Finish off the rieklings in the small camp in the entry area, then go down a rubble-strewn ramp, watching out for two pressure plates near the bottom.
of 18: Go left past the ramp and watch out for a dwarven sphere on the way to a room with a closed gate and a large array of dwarven buttons.
of 18: Just past that gate, you'll start encountering oil spiders. They leave a trail of oil wherever they go, so if you're using flame-based spells against them, stay back to avoid getting burned. (Note that using the Flames spell on the first one will ignite its oil trail and possibly damage or destroy other nearby spiders.)
of 18: Move on past that, using the Flames spell to safely burn away any oil spills you encounter, until you come to another closed gate.
of 18: Look a bit to the left of it to find a web-encased kinetic resonator. Keep hitting it with the Flames spell (or whatever) until it spins up and opens the gate.
of 18: Past some large gold doors, be ready to kill several dwarven automatons on your way to the next large gold doors.
of 18: They lead to a huge chamber full of turning gears and rotatable platforms. Crouch down and sneak-shoot the dwarven ballista that you can see on the structure directly ahead, then figure out a way to get yourself over to the door that leads to the Fahlbtharz Boilery area.
of 18: Past that gate, kill a dwarven spider, then optionally attack a kinetic resonator to open up a shortcut back to the first part of the boilery area.
of 18: Go past the resonator and through a door that leads to a previously unreachable ledge back in the main Fahlbtharz region.
of 18: Use the lever to rotate some stone walkway sections, then move down them until you can jump over to a large gear. Kill off the dwarven spider that jumps out, then quicksave before jumping onto the nearby structure and moving carefully around to where you can get onto its stone walkway.
of 18: Go down the walkway to find a dwarven ballista and a kinetic resonator. After killing the ballista, figure out how to use the resonator to get across to a door that leads to the Fahlbtharz Grand Hall region.
of 18: In the Grand Hall, hang back and attack the spiders you see ahead (which include a couple of oil spiders), then go up the stairs to find two dwarven ballista to take down.
of 18: After that, go up the stairs at the south end of the room to find a closed gate with some spears extended across it.
of 18: Past that gate, go up to the large golden head carving, then look underneath it for some treasure, including the unique dwarven helmet called the Visage of Mzund, and a Kagrumez Resonance Gem that can be useful for the "Find Resonance Gems across Solstheim to complete the Kagrumez trials" miscellaneous quest.
of 18: When you're ready to leave, use the lever in the nearby dwarven elevator to ascend to a small caged structure that's a bit north of the Abandoned Lodge. You can fast-travel right away, but you might first want to use the lever that's on one wall to open the gate so you can get back in later.
