The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Game Add-Ons (DLC) Hints

Take the Bloodstone Chalice to Redwater Spring.

  • 1 of 13: Leave the castle and travel to Redwater Den. The easiest way to get there is to go west from Autumnshade Clearing. If you haven't discovered that location yet, see the Riften section of the World Map Exploration Guide in the main Skyrim hint file.
  • 2 of 13: Follow the quest arrow to find the trap door that leads to Redwater Den. Enter it and go down the stairs to meet the doorman.
  • 3 of 13: After he talks to you, go through the door he opens to enter the main skooma den area. Talk to the dealer behind the protected counter and ask for a sample of their Redwater skooma. You can also pickpocket one from her, buy several from her store inventory, and get more free samples by passing persuade checks.
  • 4 of 13: Go south down the hallway to find a barred door that's locked. You'll need to get through that door to continue.
  • 5 of 13: Wait until the attendant is walking away from the door, then crouch down and sneak through it. The attendant, dealer, and doorman will all turn hostile the moment you open that door unless you're sneaky enough to not be detected at all.
  • 6 of 13: Sneak or fight your way through the large Redwater skooma distillation room, then head down the passage in the back to reach a forge area. Past it is a raised bridge.
  • 7 of 13: Look in the alcove to the left of the path that leads to the bridge to find the lever that lowers it. Cross the bridge and fight or sneak your way through a mine area.
  • 8 of 13: Go down to where a vampire emerges from her coffin and attacks you with her two death hounds. After killing them, optionally use a pull chain to open a secret door in the east wall and claim a magic weapon, then move on to find the door to the Redwater Spring area.
  • 9 of 13: Enter it, then turn left at the path split to find a closed gate that you need to open.
  • 10 of 13: Go past the gate to get to a large crypt area, then sneak over to where you can get the drop on the vampires and death hounds that are in there. After they're dealt with, look for some steps that lead up to the upper floor.
  • 11 of 13: Go across one of the bridges, then pull on a chain to open the gate that leads into a room with three doors. Open the iron door, then crouch-walk carefully past it, watching for pressure plates all over the floor.
  • 12 of 13: Past that hazardous passage, open another iron door to enter a huge room with Venarus Vulpin and his thrall in it. Try to sneak-attack them, then sprint back through the hazardous passage to see if you can get them to hit the traps (and try not to get hurt by them yourself).
  • 13 of 13: If you can't pick the lock on the door at the south end of Vulpin's room, search his body to get the key. Past the door, move toward the spring until you get the next objective.
