Alchemical Ingredients
In the lists below, every ingredient item and its four potion effects are listed in alphabetical order, and all compatible ingredients are listed for each effect. When you're wanting to look up an ingredient and see what its effects and compatible ingredients are, check the sublist that includes the first letter of the ingredient's name. Beehive husk would be in the A - D list because it starts with a B, scaly pholiota would be in the P - S list because it starts with an S, etc.
A compatible ingredient is one you can use with the ingredient you're looking at to make a potion with only that one effect, or with that effect plus other effects of the same general type (potion or poison). The existence of additional effects is noted by a star (*) after the compatible ingredient's name. For example, if you have some bear claws that you want to make Fortify One-Handed potions out of, check the Fortify One-Handed section of the bear claws ingredient (in the A - D list) to see that you can use canis root, hawk feathers, rock warbler eggs, or small pearls as your second ingredient. If you use small pearls, your potions will have the added effect of Restore Stamina. (You can tell because "Small Pearl*" is also listed in bear claws' Restore Stamina section.)
When you're wanting to mix up a potion with a certain effect, which particular compatible ingredients you use doesn't usually matter. However, some ingredient combinations give weaker-than-normal effects (usually if the potion has multiple effects), and some few ingredient combos will yield stronger-than-normal effects. Below is a list of all the exceptional ingredients that'll give you stronger potions.
