The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints
Magic spider extermination.
1 of 11: Enter Harmugstahl and move into the first room to find an adventurer killing a frostbite spider.
2 of 11: Talk to the adventurer to learn that the local spiders are being magically enhanced somehow, then enter the passage that starts at the back of the room.
3 of 11: Go down to a room with some raised bars blocking a doorway, then use the lever to the left of the doorway to lower the bars.
4 of 11: Past that is a large cave room with four levers and a bunch of spears blocking the next passage.
5 of 11: Go down the passage past the spears until you reach a room, then check the alchemy lab to find a journal written by whoever is experimenting on the spiders.
6 of 11: Optionally pick open the room's locked door to find one of the magically enhanced spiders (plus some loot), then go through the hole in the south wall cautiously.
7 of 11: Three magic spiders will enter the room ahead soon after you move into it. After you kill them all, use a melee weapon or the Flames spell to get through the webbing that blocks the doorway in the west wall.
8 of 11: Move on past that until you come to a wooden door. Crouch down and open the door, then sneak past it to where you can sneak-shoot Kornalus, the wizard who's down on the room's main floor. (Or sneak down to where you can use the lever on the side of the spider cage to release the spiders, which will attack Kornalus.)
9 of 11: After you kill Kornalus, release and kill the spiders if you haven't already, then get the key from Kornalus' body.
10 of 11: Use the key to open the two doors in the next hallway. The first door leads to a room with some loot, and the second door leads to a larger room with two larger magic spiders in it.
11 of 11: Go up the steps in the back of that room to get to a spot where you can drop down to the room where you used a lever to lower some bars earlier. From there, you can easily make your way back to the exit.
