The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints
(Optional) Obtain the key to Aringoth's safe.
1 of 8: Work on the "Clear out Aringoth's safe" objective until you reach the second floor, then sneak down the hallway until you turn left and see a guard ahead.
2 of 8: Sneak slowly toward him until you reach some doors on your left, then open them and sneak across the empty room to some doors that are already open.
3 of 8: Turn left past those doors and stay as far left as you can while sneaking down the hall.
4 of 8: Turn left at the end of the hall, then look through the doorway on the right to see a seated guard. You need to get past him and through the locked door in his room, but you may find it impossible to do so sneakily.
5 of 8: This is where an Invisibility potion or a really strong sneak attack would come in handy. You don't want this guard making noise and attracting the other guards.
6 of 8: After he's dealt with, pick the lock on the door, then go through it to find Aringoth. It doesn't matter if he sees you, since he won't attack or shout for the guards.
7 of 8: You can talk to him and try to persuade him to give you the safe key, but he'll attack if you fail. You might prefer to crouch down next to him and pickpocket the safe key without talking to him. (TIP: Get the cellar key, too.)
