The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints
Speak to Niranye.
1 of 5: Use the quest arrow to find Niranye, then talk to her about Fjotli. (Note that if she's in her house, you'll probably have to wait until she's at her merchant stall before you can talk to her.)
2 of 5: Try to persuade or intimidate her into telling you what you need to know. If you succeed, you'll get the next objective.
3 of 5: If both of those options fail, you could say that you don't have time for this to get her to turn hostile.
4 of 5: Everyone nearby will help you kill her, and you can get a note from her body that'll give you the next objective. However, she won't be around to be a guild fence later on.
5 of 5: It's better to say "my mistake," which gets you the "(Optional) Discover leverage to sway Niranye" objective. Finish it, then talk to Niranye again to get the next objective.
