The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints
Sneak into the fort.
1 of 5: You could skip the sneakery and go around to the fort's main entrance to get the "Take over the fort" objective, but that's not the best way.
2 of 5: Instead, move toward the fort, then enter Sneak mode and head over to the right. Watch for a patrolling soldier ahead, and try to take him down with a single sneak-attack bow shot.
3 of 5: If you can't kill him or sneak past him unseen, you'll fail this objective. However, that won't stop you from proceeding with it as if you hadn't.
4 of 5: Go on past the soldier to find a small lake, then dive into it and look on the left for an underwater cave entrance.
5 of 5: You'll get the "Free the prisoners" objective when you enter the cave (or get detected by the Imperials).
