The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints

Conjuration Ritual Spell

  • 1 of 11: Get your Conjuration skill all the way up to 90 or higher, then ask Phinis Gestor in the Hall of Countenance what else there is to be learned about Conjuration magic.
  • 2 of 11: After he teaches you the Summon Unbound Dremora spell, go to the Hall of Attainment and climb its stairs to the top.
  • 3 of 11: Go through the door to get onto the roof, then go stand next to the magic circle with the candles around it.
  • 4 of 11: Get the Summon Unbound Dremora spell ready, then aim at the magic circle. Hold down the key that starts casting the spell, then release it when the spell is ready.
  • 5 of 11: The dremora that appears will talk to you briefly and then attack. Quickly equip your best weapons and/or combat spells and send it back to Oblivion. (Note that if you're fast, you can grab its dropped weapon before it disappears.)
  • 6 of 11: Resummon it and talk to it again, then fight it again. (And try to grab its weapon again after it's killed.)
  • 7 of 11: The third time you summon it, it'll agree to get you a sigil stone when you talk to it.
  • 8 of 11: Wait until it disappears, then summon it one more time and talk to it to get the sigil stone.
  • 9 of 11: Return to Phinis Gestor and talk to him about the sigil stone, then wait a minute before talking to him again and asking what he saw.
  • 10 of 11: He'll give you the sigil stone back, plus a spell tome for the Flame Thrall spell. He'll also have spell tomes for Dead Thrall, Frost Thrall, and Storm Thrall for sale.
  • 11 of 11: NOTES: The sigil stone can be used with the Atronach Forge in the Midden area. See the Midden Activities hints for more details. The Summon Unbound Dremora spell will stay with you, but it won't ever work again.
