The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hints
How can I get that bridge lowered?
of 10: Look on your end for a button pedestal.
of 10: Using it reveals that it's not getting any power, so look around for a way to give it power.
of 10: You hear that loud, awful noise? Look around to see what's causing it.
of 10: It seems that the falmer have jammed items into some of the large dwemer gears, thereby interfering with the bridge button's power. Look around for gears that are twitching back and forth rather than rotating smoothly.
of 10: To start with, look a short way directly east of the steps that lead to the bridge to find some twitchy gears on a large post.
of 10: Those gears have a leg bone jammed into them. Move up to where you can activate the leg bone to get rid of it, thereby unjamming the gears.
of 10: Look in the back of the chamber to the right of the water pool for some gears that have a human spine jammed into them.
of 10: Remove the spine, then go over to the other side of the pool to find a skull jammed into some more gears.
of 10: After removing the skull, drop into the pool and look for some gears with dwarven scrap jammed into them. They're underwater between the two sets of stairs that lead out of the pool.
of 10: Once you remove the scrap, leave the pool and go around to the button pedestal. You can now use the button to lower the bridge, though you might want to quicksave first.
