System Shock 2 Hints
Exotic Weapons
Exotic weapons are the crystal shard, viral proliferator, and annelid launcher. You will only be able to learn the skill after you've completed a few decks and Dr. Polito uploads the necessary information into the upgrade units. The crystal shard makes for a nice melee weapon.
There are two real problems with the viral proliferator and annelid launcher, however. The first is that the worms are just too awkward to collect. Not only do you have to find beakers and collect worms from the ground, but the beakers only stack once they're full -- empty beakers each take an inventory slot. You can use the tier-3 Molecular Duplication skill to make more worm beakers, at least.
The other problem is that the human mode of both weapons can damage you if you stand too close to the blast. Of course, the same is true of the fusion cannon and grenade launcher, but those also tend to be more versatile and easier to use.
