Tales of Monkey Island Hints
Messed-Up Idol
1 of 6: This idol is well named; it has all its face pieces but is missing the central axle that they turn on. Rats! Go do the other two idols first and save this one for last.
2 of 6: When all the other idols are done, coming to the Messed-Up Idol will make De Singe appear, being very threatening with his weird blowgun.
3 of 6: Once De Singe has been neutralized you can insert the weather vane in -- ah. Hmm. How, exactly? As Guybrush says, De Singe doesn't have the right ... slot. Can we turn the wheels correctly without the weather vane?
4 of 6: Try clicking on one of the wheels. Turn the eye piece all the way around and notice the different sounds De Singe makes.
5 of 6: For three of the eyes, he yelps; for one, he makes a contented sigh. That's the one you want.
6 of 6: When all three pieces are set to be the most comfortable for De Singe, use the Ancient Tool in the clamshell. If you got it right, the wind shuts off!
