Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation Hints
I can start to climb a ladder, but whenever I do, I just slide down again.
1 of 3: Yes, this will happen if you try to climb the ladder leading to The Citadel Gate without first finding a way to get rid of the large guard with the hammer. Take care of the guard and then hurry to the exit, and you should have enough time to get up the ladder.
2 of 3: In particular, you need to trap the guard in the large building and have your motorcycle waiting for you near the southern door to the building (i.e., near where the ramp out of the building ends). Then, hurry on your motorcycle down the street and jump across the pit, until you reach a step that you can't climb on your bike.
3 of 3: Get off the bike and then run (or better yet, sprint) to the wheel that opens the door to the ladder. If you do everything relatively perfectly, you should be able to get up the ladder before the guard starts pounding his hammer again.
